“Velcome, velcome, velcome! to my humble home in Bombay. Tea?? You want tea? Tea? Tea? Yes yes yes, yes you do. Shiraaz! Tea for 9!!” Grin. Welcome, students of the 42, to another Fool’s Tarot “off the record,” so to speak. This is very much THE record, so what I mean to say is that I’m not advertising the blog anywhere, until tomorrow. So today is my last day of irresponsible editorial freedom – Grin! Today is the 28Feb2017, and the draw today is my now-standard Basics Modified, and the deck is an old/new friend, the *Bonefire Tarot* by Gabi Angus-West. Years ago, when it was independently issued, it was a wildfire bestseller, and soon sold out. Copies were harder than hen’s teeth to find. I even wrote Ms. West to ask if one might be found anywhere on the planet, and she responded (something like), “Hello, Mark. Yes, you and about two hundred other people. As far as I know, there are none available anywhere, but I can put your name on the waiting list.” So, I wait a year, then I am contacted to say that one has been found, do I want it? Hell, yes! It arrives, a wonderful deck in its obviously artisanal felt case with twine thread tied around it, and a wax seal. Obviously a handmade item,
and lovely. Small, too; not miniature, but small! Then the other day I notice what looks like a plaque bearing a title card on eBay. However, it says it’s a full deck, so I take a chance and buy it. ET VOILA! It is a reissue from 2016 that I knew NOTHING about, it is large-format size, professionally done, with big accompanying book, not just an LWB, in a large magnetic-closure deluxe boxed set. Heaven on a stick! I am overjoyed to have this old/new friend in more personally pleasing large-format. And it reads like a dream, so I have no complaints. Oddly enough, the art style isn’t one I would normally tolerate, but on these cards it doesn’t bother me at all. So, that’s the rather fat skinny on this deck. If you ever find a copy, consider buying it. Onward and Upward! I have a WONDERFUL reading today that, unfortunately, can’t be easily read in tableau style so one is obliged to look at the individual cards and then form a triptych oneself. Today I have drawn: Sulfur = XX Judgement; Mercury = II the High Priestess, and Salt = the King of Wands. There isn’t a card here I haven’t drawn a hundred times before, but today they look fresh and new because today I am fresh & new TO them. I’m not the same Mark the last time I saw any of them, and I won’t be the same in future encounters, either. That is because I’m ‘moving again,’ thank Osiris! I felt stalled on my Path for a bit there, constantly balking at confronting XX Judgement and taking ALL the actions & responsibilities and making a DECISION.
Now that I have done that, XX has changed her face, too. No longer the scolding friend & counselor, She is now the satisfied friend, happy to see me back on the road again, having passed through her portals. She awaits only my implementation, my manifestation(s), to verify & justify her faith in her old friend. My Anima today is inside the temple of II the High Priestess, and that is superfine with me. I’m a BIG fan of the High Priestess, even if I don’t spend an inordinate amount of time in her mist-shrouded corridors and ill-lit alcoves. But my Anima there! YES, that’s where she can do her best work, “harvesting” lost knowledge for our continued journey. I’m a solar fire guy, but my Anima, motived by my Moon (Taurus in the 9th House) and my Ascendant (Virgo with Mercury ruling a rising Earth,) feels very welcome here, as she is as secretive as the High Priestess is mysterious. Judgement as my Sulfur and the High Priestess as my Mercury go well together, and to top off this very good reading, my Salt today, the Catalyst to activate my male/female pair and allow them to work in harness as a team, is the King of Wands. I rather diffidently identify with this King; having left the Swords Court some time ago, I re-homed in Wands, and am now of an age and learning to self-characterize myself as the King; the Fire Energy is right on, and everything about the gentleman awakens echoes in me of the man I am becoming (hard work & a boatload of hope!) There are some wonderful passages in the eponymous large colored book that accompanies this deck, and as much as I would like to go ahead and give you a 5 page blog, I’m not going to as I have done enough of that recently. On the whole, a wonderful reading lending a citric burst of tang & energy to the day ahead. I’m looking forward to it. I ask the Cosmos to give us ALL the ‘good side’ of our draws today. Be Well, Be Zen, Be Blessed!

Good morning, Explorers in the Ruins of Atlantis! Yes, that’s me in that wall fresco; yes, I am that old & older, more disagreeable than you ever imagined! LOL. Today, 27 Feb 2017, however, my disagreeability is at bay, in truth because I have a rather confusing read here on this dawn of the end of Capitalism. (May Isis, Osiris & Horus hear my prayer! §Yes, folks, even though it means the end of easy times for me [no retirement $], I’d cheer its disappearance for the benefit of humanity as a species.) It is a lengthy process, however, and I hope that even though I shan’t live to see its fall, my young friends will. SO much for that. Today is, of course, the Basics Modified spread and the deck is *The Tarot of Saqqara* by Donald G. Beaman. I LOVE this deck. If you ever see a copy, buy it, it will reward you with deep readings and honest info about what is going on with you (assuming, of course, that you haven’t fed it bullshit.) Onward & Upward! Today I have drawn: Sulfur = XVII the Stars; Mercury = XV the Devil, and Salt = the Ace of Pentacles. The card that is baffling me a trifle is XV the Devil in the Mercury position; feminine, passive, upright, it is a l-o-n-g way from her (my Anima) recent direction, which was pulling alongside me through Judgement towards XXI the World. My only even remote guess is that here, on the threshold of big change (changing the lifestyle to reflect my current reality,) she is having a knee-jerk reaction to the idea of abandoning the Material. Maybe. Perhaps. It’s a guess . . . .
Otherwise, I can see my Animus today in the hopeful symbol of the Stars. This is “Isis as Sirius. The Priestess of the Silver Star. IT symbolizes Nature art work, actualizing my imagination, and the now very real possibility of Becoming. Hope through Faith, or Faith in Hope, which is really Faith in Faith – a self-validating Truth. The subtitle of ‘priestess of the Silver Star’ which refers to Venus as a planet, and to Isis as Sirius, the card is concerned with existing in Grace while meeting the challenges of Fate with Faith. Grace is a rather old-fashioned concept still worthy adopting. This is the Way of Destiny.” (LWB) With my Anima in XV the Devil, the Lord of the Fire of the World, the card stands for “survival, or self-preservation in a positive sense. One may need to sublimate the lower self so as to stimulate a growth in Spirit. The dilemma of this emotional suppression needs to be addressed constructively by carefully examining the objectives and the alternatives we have regarded as worthwhile in this life. We must learn to ask the question of the Center: ‘What is your intention through me?’ Are we meant to do something? It is everyone’s question. The DEVIL is given reality when our own fears crowd to the front of our mind for recognition. The personal self too often becomes our own worst enemy and excuses flow from our creative imagination. This is the Way of Self-
Delusion.” (LWB) And finally, where am I to find the Energy necessary to fold these two disparate cards/currents/realities together to create a unified flow forward? Apparently, it is my Salt/Catalyst card, the Ace of Pentacles. Think of Mithras and the bull religion, that kind of rooted power. This Ace is the “Lord of the Root of the Powers of Earth. The Quest of Pentacles is the suit of the Hero in the West. It is of the fixed quality of the Spatial Universe and of the effects of environment or community. It represents gratification of desires for material comfort, wealth, commerce and business, and for stability or security. This is the Faculty of Sensation and the Illusions of Material Happiness. (Moderation [XIV] should be sought.)” (LWB) Okeydokey, then, so basically it is “dig in my sabots and INSIST with all the force of the Earth that the Devil consider the choices and decide to weigh in with XVII to row in tandem toward the starry horizon.  I have to be careful when I’m handling this Ace; it throws me into my father, a man of sterling character but all of the subtlety of the proverbial bull in the china shop; he is, as all are wont to say, a “diamond in the rough.” (The VERY rough! Grin. He’s a man who makes John Wayne look effeminate. I have always wished to NEVER be my father, but as age advances the inevitable happens and I find him in my character more and more, thankfully tinged by my penchant for less barbarity. LOL. He and I have become good friends with age.) So there it is for today, the penultimate day of February. The World is going to hell in a handbasket out there; I am truly hopeful that I can complete a Cycle during this lifetime and advance beyond, if the madmen running the world give me enough time before they set it aflame. (The Age of Fire, you know?)  I ask the Cosmos today to help us ALL find the exit. Be Well, Be Zen, Be Blessed!

Good morning, Adventurers Beyond the Portals of Reason! Grin. I’m making it short & sweet; we all have Christian services to disrupt today, and I do not wish to be responsible for anyone forgetting their spritzer lapel flower or their shocking handshake button. Oh, and yes, don’t forget, your blow gun is your BEST friend! (Doesn’t interrupt the psalm singing, you know.)  This week we are running a special on curare. So . . . Basics modified, the deck is *The Revised New Art Tarot* by J. A. Knapp & Manly P. Hall. Good deck, just wish it wasn’t quite SO “flat.” Onward & Upward! I’m not in the temperament today to wax philosophic, so here it is down & dirty; My Sulfur/male/active current, symbolized by XII the Hanged Man, is running towards the sacrifice of the divided self in order to attain not only unity but enlightenment; my Mercury today is XXI the World, where my passive/feminine current is awakening to the possibilities that Sulfur has already delineated. Just a day or two ago it was He who embodied the World. And finally, how to accomplish thus feat of prodigious magic, making these two almost polar opposites (in terms of access to Sophia) run together, hand in hand? With the Queen of Wands, Athena herself, by the testicles of Zeus! She is every bit the Lawgiver, Ma’at, Reason (in the French revolutionary sense,) and a shining beacon of goodness & fair play. Her energy is immense, if a bit subtler than the other Court Cards; she isn’t quite so overwhelming, although implacable in her own way. So, there we have it for today. I’m going to post some outside fluff below on XII the Hanged Man; it is GOOD fluff, but my contribution to this reading is done. I ask the Cosmos to give us all a sense of the imperative of Purpose today. Be Well, Be Zen, Be Blessed!
“This twelfth sign of house, closing the cycle of the zodiac, means loss to the outer world, solution, handing over the results of one cycle to the following one, whence comes the meaning of treachery in common astrology. This house contains the things which we have not yet mastered and those whom we have failed to understand or who have failed to understand us. So either this remains for the next cycle, or it will tempt us to waste our last forces. In the eyes of the world it is the sign of waste, spoil, mishap. Viewed from the other side it is the sign of the Golem, in which the outer world loses its importance or even reality, and the consciousness is opened to inner truth. This is the reversing of consciousness, which makes things change their significance in such a way that they appear to turn upside down: the world is now viewed from the other side. And this is the significance of the hanged man.' It is also the sign of Judas, who, as far as the outer world is able to judge, did not understand the significance of Jesus and handed Him over to His enemies, the most mysterious of the disciples and apparently the fiend within the circle. What, however, is his treason or despair when viewed from the other side? It is an act of 'perversion,' the result of human nature being too weak to carry on in this world the heavy load of spiritual revelation; or even a mystic message, which till now has never been understood and will never be understood by the profane world. However this may be, we may feel pretty sure, that none of the others who remained in this world to preach the Gospel understood or, let us say rather, underwent the Message like Judas, who hanged himself. Well may Waite say: "It is a card of profound significance, but all the significance is
veiled." Perhaps we might even add: it is the symbol of the veil itself and of everything that is and remains veiled in this world, and, in divination, to the Querent, ad hoc. Papus tries to identify the Hanged Man with the Hebrew letter Lamed which "designates the arm" . . . but fails utterly in his effort to explain this. We should say, if this identification be true, it may be because of the power to embrace and to execute. The arms hang, when not raised. We shall not try to explain it any further here. The man is shown hanging in a sling on one foot. Astrology teaches that the feet are ruled by the sign Pisces. The crossing of the legs is a symbol of 'crossing' in general. Among the other cards of the Greater Arcana, nine of which symbolize planetary principles and functions, three only are given in full as heavenly bodies: Sun, Moon and the--(eight-pointed)--'Flaming Star,' while the significance of the others is clothed in allegorical images. Now the question why only these three and not the other planetary principles should have been given in full is difficult to answer. In a way the 'Flaming Star' stands for the stars in general and so this trinity means: Sun, Moon and Stars. On the other hand, ancient priests and astrologer-initiates appear not to have chosen to communicate more of the significance of the planets than just a few of their apparent effects, while in 'Sun, Moon and Star' they strongly expressed the idea of a Heavenly Trinity, viz. that of the positive or masculine creative power, radiating life; that of a feminine or negative power, which rules formation, and of a uniting principle, he it under the name of Law, Love or Union. The latter was always represented as specifically benefic. It is evidently the idea of the planet Venus, the beautiful morning and evening star, which was known to, and adored by, all peoples in all ages. This trinity contains more meaning than a superficial astrological consideration could reveal. From such a standpoint it might even appear more or less arbitrary. So, for instance, the question might be asked, ‘Why has not Mercury, nearer to the Sun even than Venus, been chosen as a member of the trinity?’ It would take us too far from our main road if we tried to explain this in detail, but it may be stated that in some respect the Moon represents and conveys the vibrations of Mercury to the Earth. The astrological symbols for the visible sun and for the planet we know under the name of Mercury, but which could as well have been named Vulcan, should be Astrological symbol for the sun and Astrological symbol for Mercury respectively instead of and . I have explained this in another volume. (Cosmology II, Elements of Astrology.) Further we might point out, that to the Earth and its inhabitants, the Sun, the Moon and Venus are, in fact, of some sort of primary importance; the Sun and the Moon (of the Earth)
as the representatives to us of the primary polar powers of the positive and the negative in Cosmos; Venus as the planet representing the first step in evolution next to the Earth, consequently of primary importance to our evolution. The Sun, Moon and 'Flaming Star' are not only one of the most striking and beautiful expressions of the Divine Trinity among our present-day Freemasons, as every handbook on Freemasonry shows us, but have been so for long ages. A specimen of it is to be found (Musée du Louvre, Paris) on a couple of border-stones or steles, put along the frontier of his territory by the Chaldean king Melichikou (1144-1130 B.C.). The heads of these steles bear a representation of the king and his daughter before a goddess (of Justice?) and above these figures are the images of the Sun, the Moon and the (eight-pointed) Flaming Star, which evidently mean, that the king, eventually for the benefit of his daughter as well, invokes the Heavenly Powers of the Trinity to protect his kingdom against invasion. Another borderstone with the same figures of Sun, Moon and eight-pointed Flaming Star, even dates as far back as the year 1380 B.C., under the reign of King Nazi-Maraddach. So three thousand years ago the three Heavenly Lights appear to have been bearing the same significance and to have been used in this same mutual relation as at present in Freemasonry and in our Tarot system. We may accept this as pretty sure proof of the antiquity of both Freemasonry and Tarot.” (A. E. Thierens, “The General Book of the Tarot” [1930].)

Good Morning, Bathers in the Psychic Sea! Today, 25Feb2017, is a quick tableau read. The deck is the *Revelations Tarot* by Zach Wong. My Sulfur = male/active = my Animus getting ready for the Change – not, not quitting this mortal coil but sweeping the decks for a new lifestyle. Which might as well happen now, as my wife and I are in accord and flat broke at the moment, until the next round of retirement checks roll in. When you are NOT flush with money is a good time to make a sea-change; you aren’t tempted to try and simply “buy” the change with a change in décor. No such luck (bad or good, you decide.) We are okay, not homeless, so it isn’t a matter of dancing or being a wallflower. We just have no cash flow for around a week. Thus, the change will have to be interior, WHERE IT BELONGS. I have this fantasy of being so buzzed on the metaphysical that the need for herbal aide is not necessary – I’m already there, naturally; wouldn’t THAT be’ nice? “The veil or mask of life is perpetuated in change, transformation and passage from lower to higher, and this is more fitly represented in the rectified Tarot by one of the apocalyptic visions than by the crude notion of the reaping skeleton. Behind it lies the whole world of ascent in the spirit. The mysterious horseman moves slowly, bearing a black banner emblazoned with the Mystic Rose, which signifies life. Between two pillars on the verge of the horizon there shines the sun of immortality. The horseman carries no visible weapon, but king and child and maiden fall before him,
while a prelate with clasped hands awaits his end. There should be no need to point out that the suggestion of death which I have made in connection with the previous card is, of course, to be understood mystically, but this is not the case in the present instance. The natural transit of man to the next stage of his being either is or may be one form of his progress, but the exotic and almost unknown entrance, while still in this life, into the state of mystical death is a change in the form of consciousness and the passage into a state to which ordinary death is neither the path nor gate. The existing occult explanations of the 13th card are, on the whole, better than usual, rebirth, creation, destination, renewal, and the rest.” (A.E. Waite, “Pictorial Key to the Tarot”.) This card came up reversed, originally, so I take its meaning in the “cleaner,” softer sense. In Mercury I have drawn III the Empress. This is about as Mercurial as it gets; the Gaia-like figure of Her Imperial Majesty being Fecundity itself. She is running on the same track as Sulfur, so I am assured that my Anima is on board for the Change, and ready to fecundate the “new planet” with Life, and abundantly. Thanks, Ma’am! “A stately figure, seated, having rich vestments and royal aspect, as of a daughter of heaven and earth. Her diadem is of twelve stars, gathered in a cluster. The symbol of Venus is on the shield which rests near her. A field of corn is ripening in front of her, and beyond there is a fall of water. The sceptre which she bears is surmounted by the globe of this world. She is the inferior Garden of Eden, the Earthly Paradise, all that is symbolized by the visible house of man. She is not Regina coeli, but she is still refugium peccatorum, the fruitful mother of thousands. There are also certain aspects in which she has been correctly described as desire and the wings thereof, as the woman clothed with the sun, as Gloria Mundi and the veil of the Sanctum Sanctorum; but she is not, I may add, the soul that has attained wings, unless all the symbolism is counted up another and unusual way. She is above all things universal fecundity and the outer sense of the Word. This is obvious, because there is no direct message which has been given to man like that which is borne by woman; but she does not herself carry its interpretation. In another order of ideas, the card of the Empress signifies the door or gate by which an entrance is obtained into this life, as into the Garden of Venus; and then the way which leads out therefrom, into that which is beyond, is the secret known to the High Priestess: it is communicated by her to the elect. Most old attributions of this card are completely wrong on the symbolism--as, for example, its identification with the Word, Divine Nature, the Triad, and so forth.” (Ibid) And finally, my Salt, the Catalyst to harmonize and convince the two currents to pull together, I have the Knight of Wands, a familiar avatar from many forays along the path being “point man.” He’s all devotion & Fire, and more; “The workings of Air by a special and mighty agent--for this the knight is in all cases--on the houses of water, here the Fourth and the Twelfth, causes turbulence, motion, emotion (though it must be borne in mind, that it is not emotion in itself); the action of the air on the water causes waves. In the case of the fourth house the knight relates to family matters or household conditions, eventually the father, to internal
conditions in society or groups of people. It must further relate to memories and the past in general, because it means the awakening of the sentiments. The traditional conclusions have been drawn evidently in the negative for the greater part, in consideration of the fact that the sentiments generally are misleading. That they give reason for many changes is quite true. In the case of the twelfth house this is much the same. But extending its result over a much larger circle, the mercurial knight may represent expedition and exploration, discovery, scientific or practical, emigration, estrangement, and the 'great work' of transmigration. It denotes a searching for the unknown, which in weak personal cases may appear as indiscretion or premature revelation, divulgation, profanation, etc. We do not see why this knight should be either young or friendly. (So! He has a dubious side to his character, as well! mlm) Quite the reverse: On account of the twelfth house there is something inimical about him, and a certain dissension of sentiment may find its cause in the past, in a family feud or something in the nature of a misguiding prejudice, tradition, which will have to be given up, etc.” (A.E. Thierens, “The General Book of the Tarot.” So there it is for today, nothing groundbreaking, nothing that shatters my peace for the day, just slowly working onward on the new phase. This is good; it is also very good to know that both my Animus & Anima are working together on this; I just don’t feel I have the time or energy or Will to take on a battle if one had been needed. Thank Osiris! I ask the Cosmos today to give us ALL a clean, clear, ordinary day. Be Well, Be Zen, Be Blessed!

Good morning, Campers of the Beyond! Today is 24Feb2017, the spread is the Basics Modified, and the deck is *The Night Sun Tarot* by Fabio Listrani. Fabulous artwork & images; dark multicultural fantasy. Sulfur = XXI the World; Mercury = XIII Death, and Salt = the Ace of Swords. This is all okay in the tableau reading. My male self, the animus, is going ahead for the Full Tombola; no more doubts, no more “Is this what I’m REALLY supposed to be doing?” Yes, it is, Mark, you’ve determined that with adamantine certainty. My Anima, the female side of me, is looking forward to Death and Rebirth; she’s all for the Change and is ready to go forward and bring new life out of the old. Finally, the energy to accomplish the task of yoking these two together and getting them to work in tandem
“to plow the field,” is available to me in the form of a “thermonuclear reactor,” the Ace of Swords, the seed of immense strength, power, thinking & more. It’s a good read, not particularly dramatic or specific, but decent for what it is, the “the state of the nation.” I ask the Cosmos to give us ALL an individual update on the general state of the union. Be Well, Be Zen, Be Blessed!

Hello boys and girls, and Welcome to the *Cooger & Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show.* (Ray Bradbury) I feel trapped a bit in that traveling circus of dark dementia recently. Today my printer problems continue, and after trying all options, I am reduced to recognizing it is a mechanical problem with the boxy device itself. So, depending on the estimate, it’s either repair or new. But not right now, £$ is tight, so one hopes for a mechanical intervention. Grin. Fuckin’ picayune problems cluttering the Path of Progress – I’d like to kick their asses to the side, but no, they must be dealt with and fixed. OK, enough bitching; Onward and Upward! Basic Modified, deck I used was actually an Egyptian deck, but since the printer won’t scan now, I’m using stock images of CBS Tarot de Marseille. Sulfur = XX Judgement, and I grok that this isn’t the same presentation of Judgement as before: my animus,
the male current symbolized alchemically by Sulfur, is rather considering the steps ahead just post-judgement, as he has yet to spring into action. The news/materialization has been announced, therefore verbalized & made real. From there it is a question of organization and setup, and I am now considering the best way to go about that. Ly Anima today, Mercury as XII the Hanged Man, I think I understand what she is saying to me; she is ready to give up the personal and ready for our meld, and the result she sees is the desired union of complimentary currents that I am dimly beginning to see as entirely possible. It doesn’t surprise me that she’s a step or three ahead of me on this; when it comes to emotional and intuitive issues she has the ‘upper third eye’ over me. No, don’t worry, I haven’t slipped over the edge into ‘schizophrenia,’ I just have a very visual defined distinction between my animus and anima and I understand both very well. Union would blow me away. IT would take a BONFIRE of Energy to accomplish that, and, whoa! Check it out! The Ace of Wands,
ALL OF THAT FIRE! I am delighted, as my own personal energy is very unreliable these days and I need the help, and this Ace is as big as the help comes; Fire, creation, imagination, spirit, it is the wellspring of all of that genre, and I have never welcomed it as heartily as I do today. All of this change prep is taking a toll, so more and more I rely on the energies of the cosmos to help me. SO, there we have it for today. No going the extra mile today with excerpts, quotations, slideshows or class outings to the Museum of Natural history. I am now going to partake of the gift of Hapi, the Nile river god who brings fertile soil to Kemet (Egypt) every annual flood, thus allowing the vendors of Joy to grow and harvest the Blessings of Neith, a green herb growing along the banks of the great river. And in the arms of Ma’at I shall let my mind detach from my body and roam freely in the Duat, seeking answers to questions that vex my spirit on dark winter nights. Grin. (If anyone has a lovely burgundy smoking jacket in my size they’re not using, I could use it, please. Embroidered Chinese silk is acceptable, as well. Oh, and a raven . . . does anyone have a spare raven?) I ask the Cosmos today to give us ALL a breather from the pusillanimous & picayune problems of daily life.  Be Well, Be Blessed, Be Zen!

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

“Good Morning, Team. Today, 22Feb2017, our mission is as follows; we miniaturize, board the sub, and travel up the patient’s femoral vein to his heart. Once there, we laser away the fibrous & slimy knots of negativity that still, despite the patient’s best efforts, remain clustered around the sphinctered valves of the organ. Once clean, we return to the outside and undergo de-miniaturization in our prep and debriefing facility. Any questions? . . . Um, yes, let me see . . . the patient is one Mr. Mark Miller, 64 yrs. old and problematic due to a libertine lifestyle. Any others? OK, to the prep facility, now!”   And Onward & Upward! Or Onward & Inward, if one prefers. Today is the Basics Modified spread (of course,) and the deck is *The Wild Unknown Tarot* by Kim Krans. It is a wonderfully imaged deck, and I do like it; however, it isn’t easy to work with for me, as I speak only for myself. It “seems” to “begrudge giving me the correct cards, as if it isn’t in a cooperative mood.” Big time anthropomorphism, I know. Nevertheless, there you have it. Saying which, I had to work the cards a LOT in the wash & shuffle to feel decently about the resulting piles (2.)
My intuition felt taxed, a feeling she doesn’t enjoy. But they came up with a decent, if not terribly insightful or informative, reading. Thus: Sulfur = XVIII the Moon; Mercury = IX the Hermit reversed, and Salt = the Son (Knight) of Wands. I’m not receiving my usual frisson of recognition and the accompanying satisfaction of having “divined” correctly (regardless of the read; I can feel that way about XVI, XIII & XX laid out in a row, if it intuits accurately.) However, I DO accept this read as reasonably accurate; it jives with a very rough outline of what I feel, think & intuit as my energies & inner state today. Sulfur, the male current, my animus, wants to head of to the lunar opium dens to mentally masturbate a bit on his new ideas on moving forward, and perhaps receive some Lunar promptings and ideas, as well. Mercury, my female current, my anima, however, is feeling social today in IX the Hermit reversed. Not for her today the quest FOR knowledge, but rather a trip to town to the castle where she can circulate among the educated to SHARE her gains in knowledge and cognition about the Path of Initiation and the necessity to follow it. I can relate at the moment; part of the much-howled-about (by the cards) XX Judgement I needed to make was to recognize that I had reached the limits of what I could do locked up here in this tower of croissants. “Break out, pal, take it public & free; just open the dialogue with Montpellier, beyond your current friends who are also students. Let Montpellier know that you are here, and ready. It’s time, Mark.” So if Missy Anima has a desire to go public (I hope to show off her hard-won Sophia, and not spin her tassels as she did in any number of cities, once upon a time, Grin,) then that’s OK with me. And where shall I find the necessary rectitude to keep an eye on
little Missy Anima and away from her tassels and on subject? Oh, lookie, lookie! My Knight in Shining Armor, a snake carrying a stick. LOL. The Serpent of Wisdom, Sophia, shines above & around him in Wands. Normally I’m not real keen on this guy, preferring his father instead (perhaps that is more the “male me” that I would like to admit; I have found VERY few men in life I consider like “sons,” and all of them now, later in life. I feel more “properly cast,” with my love for them intact and available, than I would in any other role.) However, I gladly accept his energy today. It will be cool & clear, as my relations with serpents can be characterized that way as well. I like them, they like me, but both parties are thinking, “Yeah, pal, I like you, too, but let’s not overdue it, okay?” As much as I would like to speak Parseltongue, I don’t. I like cool & clear; it is SO helpful in certain situations. In others, we all have other resources upon which to draw. So, there we have it for today with a willing Querent and a grumpy, uncooperative deck. It can be wrestled into doing its work, but in the end, why? Especially when there are SO many others that actually give me JOY to use. So, this may head into storage, as much as I regret the loss of the imagery. But Wait! There is a “companion deck,” which isn’t REALLY a companion deck at all, but an animal spirit guide by tarot-like divination. Same style of art, totally different goal. I still have some hopes for that; I will tell you the results at a later date. I ask the Cosmos today to grant us ALL the Light of Sophia today as we make our way forward. Be Well, Be Blessed!

Good morning, my beautiful, happy, charming and adored friends! I’m still offline to the” general world, so you alone are the recipients of the wine of wisdom today; let’s hope it hasn’t turned to vinegar! Grin. While rummaging, I came across my 1st Robert Place deck, *The Alchemical Tarot: Edition III* and it leapt into my hands and cried “Use me! Use me!” meanwhile tearing its blue satin gown at the shoulder in a successful effort to entice me. The spread today is the usual Basics Modified and thus today is: Sulfur = X the Wheel of Fortune; Mercury = VI the Lovers, and Salt = the King of Swords. The tableau is looking good, in light of recent decisions I have made, spurred into action by some previous readings. I made the “Decision,” and now it is ‘to work’ to realize & manifest it. The 1st stage is ‘Clearing the Decks’; a thorough triage of my material life and the discarding of ALL doodads & blahblahs that have no utility in my ongoing life, stage 6.5 . I have already mentally mapped out stage 2
and stage 3, so it will all wind up at, hopefully, accomplishing the task I have been set: to take “my” Tarot (my way of it, my “grok” of it, my style, if you will) public. I am keeping this initial manifestation within reasonable limits, local only. After that, “on verra.” So-o-o, my animus can be said to be taking his shower, having his suit pressed, and in general getting ready for an adventurous evening, as seen in his attitude and realistic approach, X the Wheel of Fortune. ‘What goes up, must come down; As Above, So Below.’ Coursing on with the fire of the salamander in my wings now, I meet my anima who today is signified as VI the Lovers (chaste). In this deck there is another Lovers card showing full-lock passion; it is much more appropriate that this one happened to be in place today! I say that because my emotional field has been changing, too, along with making the decision; one of the reasons, in fact. I find “the personal” dropping away from any feelings of Love and sentiment I currently possess, and I feel the birth of a vast new Love that is more generalized. I look at my friends now, who are mainly generations younger than me, and yes, I still love them, but now an overwhelming feeling of tenderness accompanies it, and I KNOW they are ALL my children, in one way or another. I need, now, to cultivate this carefully in order to grow into an emotion strong enough to reach in ever larger circles to embrace People with Love. This is a Direct challenge
to me: ‘the emotional cripple who grew up feeling the lack of loved & warped emotion is now, after a lifetime of lessons, called upon to embrace the entire human race with that purity of that very same Love.” In short, I “have” to take Love and make it general, instead of specific. I need to TRY and love everyone as much as I love my ‘ersatz’ family.  By the fiery beard of Thor! Where will I ever find the energy to do that, weakening as I am in health and general vitality? “In your Catalyst, you buffoon! Luckily for you, you have drawn the King of Swords!” I have been in the suit of Swords for most of my adult life, including finally the king and yes, there are Brobdignagian tuns full of energy available to the King, but beware the price! When you reach the summit of the Swords, you shine with Intellect & Energy, but like ALL ultra-bright stars, your lifetime in that stage is short; superhot stars burn fast. If you don’t progress, you become a hardened husk, and there is a LOT of divagation on your emotional pathway. SO buck up and fly right if you are going to incarnate the King for any period of time; be SURE to take breaks, relax, de-stress, and let the excess air out of your ego. Don’t worry, you’ll heat up again. That’s it for today, my bizarrely genomed children (LOL) and I DO hope the taste isn’t vinegary to your palate. Grin. I ask the Cosmos today to give us ALL a moment of sheer joy and Love in our friendships today. Be Well, Be Blessed!

“Good morning and Welcome! You’ll find that your journey from the Starlight Rest Home, Aging Facility and Cosmetics School is only the start of the excitement today!” Grin. As usual, it is the Basics modified spread, and the deck today is *The Mutational Alchemy Tarot* by m1thr0s and Izi Ningishzidda. It is startlingly different yet HIGHLY esoteric, and for some reason the re-numbering of certain Major Arcana cards doesn’t bother me as much with this deck as it does with others. Mutational, right? Today’s spread came out thusly: Sulfur = XVII the Emperor; Mercury = XVIII the Moon, and Salt = the Ace of Blades (Swords.) As you can see, these cards don’t really lend themselves to “tableau reading.” Not only that, but the symbology is a mile thick on each & every one. It is a “heavy” deck, in all senses of the word. I believe the best I can do to explain what the cards are is to quote from the accompanying book, *The Mutational Alchemy Tarot Book* online, @ abrahadbra.com, by m1thr0s and Izi Ningishzidda. What I “see” as I scan the tableau is three unities rather than one picture. The first card, Sulfur = XVII the Emperor, is always rather a shock with this deck. With a logically stunning and well-informed presentation, the authors justify the “correction” on several grounds, amongst which is that A. Crowley just had it plain wrong (I think?) (The Star moves to the Emperor’s old slot, #4.)
At any rate, the Emperor as conceived of in this deck is much more than the general consensus on the card; in this deck he is a mystical and transfigured being carrying all three kingdoms with him. (I shall addend this description after I’ve thrown in my $1.05, not only the price of Freedom but the inflationary rise of .02¢ over the years.) He’s a supernatural ruler, and an awe-inspiring symbol of power. That’s where my Sulfur, male, active current is running today, and I am suspicious of the “ego-trip sound” of it, but I can keep a tight rein on the beast if need be, I am sure of it. My Mercury today is XVIII the Moon; “Momma’s on a run tonight! Hooeee-Jehosephat!” The Feminine current wants to run with the wolves tonight, I suppose (“Listen to them, the children of the Night. What music they make!” *Dracula* by Bram Stoker, (1897.) She is definitely feeling the need to retreat into the mystic & “crazy” side of her femininity as symbolized by the Moon, dreamy, hazy, intuitive, . . . “O, swear not by the moon, th'inconstant moon, That monthly changes in her circle orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable.” *Romeo & Juliet* by W. Shakespeare. That’s alright with me; my wife spends large chunks of her time in the Vap (as the French call it, short for Vapeurs, or clearly, metaphysical vapors.) Text shall follow from the book. Finally, I see the energy today is provided by the Ace of Swords, who was JUST here the other day, and is now back for its repeat performance of a thermonuclear reactor on “High.” As I’ve explained before, I love the suit of Swords, and especially the Ace, as Swords used to be my “home Court.” Now I am a citizen in the Wands, as almost ALL of my energy & being are devoted to the goal, to “Break On Through To The Other Side.” This is a dynamite
energy source for me, I can use it like a professional, but I must keep my eye on the usage meter; I don’t want to revive old habit and old addictions, which this can easily do, working directly on one’s ego as it does. So that’s my day today: I grok it. Before we continue to the books lowdown on these cards, let me wind up my part. I ask the Cosmos today to show us ALL how to allow our two natures to coexist in perfect harmony. Be Well, Be Blessed! ********** “The Emperor card is one of several paths that have been positioned incorrectly according to the Proximity Principle of Mutational Alchemy, and The Book of the Law. The Emperor with the correct letter, Tzaddi, should logically correspond to the 28th Proximity Principal path between Sephira #7 (Netzach) and Sephira #9 (Yesod). The Emperor card acquires the additional value of Atu XVII, previously assigned to the Star card. The lightning worlds, the sun worlds and the moon worlds are from Hermetic Kabbalah tradition, relating to the tree of life. (This is the linked three worlds on the Visconti Emperor’s robe as well) The Sephirothic triangle of the lightning world is centered in Da’ath, the uppermost triangle, and its corners are in Binah, Chokmah and Tiphareth. The only way to express the top triangle cosmologically, according to Hermetic Kabbalah is with lightning. The sun worlds are anchored in Geburah, Chesed and Yesod. Here is where the Phoenix of Hermes resides, within the center of the tree. (Note this is where the crucial 63-64 reside in the Temporals arrangement. This is very important.)  Hermes, the infant and criminal, who always does good through his works, not matter how pestilent he seems.  The Lunar worlds are anchored in Hod, Netzach and Malkuth. This is not *our* moon, it is not in *our* solar system. The crescent is a fine symbol and this represents the gamut of a moon’s relatively common phases. Here we have the aftermath of the Devil who is also the hidden Emperor and his work: The Tower – the power issue has been resolved and the true ruler descends through the three worlds to claim what is his by omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence. The Book of the Law through “Hadith” tells us “All these old letters of my Book are aright; but Tzaddi is not the Star”. Crowley took the advice to heart and switched the Hebrew letters Tzaddi which was associated to The Star, and He associated with The Emperor, with each other, but he did not switch the Star and the Emperor’s ordering in the ATU. m1thr0s has issued this correction and I feel very pleased with it due to the secrets it reveals. Appropriately the Emperor and Empress are no longer side by side. Even more wonderfully, the Emperor’s path now runs between Netzach and Yesod, and in the ATU he is now before the Moon. The ordering of the ATU reflects his physical position on the tree. It is appropriate that the Emperor be “down in the fray” as it were, commanding his kingdom – even though his authority derives from his association with the supreme feminine, the Empress, and from Kether itself. His physical manifestation is the “hand of god”. Thus in the card, he is given the form of Apsu or alternately, Kolowisi, the all-father water serpent from Sumerian and Zuni mythology. Apsu is called “Lord of the Sweet Waters” and is the consort of Tiamat, “Lady of the Bitter Waters”.
He is a black bashumu, or horned serpent, also a symbol of the Indian idea of primordial universe, the sea-serpent Shesha Ananta, a black endless serpent outside time and universe, often depicted supporting one of the supreme triumvirate, Vishnu, who is like his child or emanation. Shesha Ananta only incarnates a small part of himself ever as Balarama, always the older brother of Lord Vishnu’s avatar. He has pure white skin and a commanding disposition of the Lord engaged in Lila appropriate to the Emperor’s path connecting Netzach and Yesod, or Venus and Luna. Students of Mutational Alchemy will note the appearance of his horns to reflect the anatomy of the TwinStar and this was intentional from the start.” (Ibid) “The strange name of the ruling Pentagram “Corporealizing” hints at some kind of phantom, unfinished form coming into being. It calls to mind ghosts and spirits, the unborn and the undead. This spooky energy is what the Moon is all about. Water of Tui and Earth of Chen signifies an auspicious feminine energy at play, and its nature as something good is affirmed in the line from Berashith “Elohim blessed them.” This reflects on the Fire Hex of the previous ATU, Grace, in which beauty is essential even though it seems impractical. Sexuality is always connected to the Moon card, and we find this reinforced in the hex Influence. It does not warn against sexual contact it only warns against being careful about one’s behavior. “Exceed by delicacy.” The same can be said of drugs which can be considered “the maiden” in some instances.” (Ibid) “One might ask why the Hidden Diamond Sutra is on every single Ace card, and the answer lies in the fact that the Aces are nothing less than the doctrine of Tetragrammaton as mentioned by Crowley over a century ago. The Hidden Diamond is comprised of 16 paths, the general number of Tetragrammaton with 4 cardinal elements of Heaven, multiplied by the 4 cardinal elements of Earth.  The Hidden Diamond constitutes the driving active force of the Tree of Life. With the triple 4:4 count (see my article The Da’ath Hack) and its crossing of Da’ath it can effectively flood the Seat of Knowledge with the full force of the ternary Tetragrammaton. This makes it exceptionally good contender for the subject of all of the Aces, comprising the generating seed of the entirety of their respective element. Here on the Ace of Blades we find as one might expect, Pentagram #1 indicating its authority as the Alpha of Vau. This is the same Hexagram and Pentagram found on all of the Aces. Air’s instinct and urge is to “Ascend” as the principle of Levity and so its lightning bolt is ascending. The Planetary is Neptune of course, planet of Kether (Crown). . . The Hidden Diamond sits amongst the newly forming universe, where Air is coming into being through the union of Fire and Water. Here the element is represented by the delicate black butterfly which symbolizes the frolicking and clever nature of mind and thought which defines Air’s special qualities. Levity is that special quality of Air that makes it especially important to alchemy. The two interplaying mercurial elements of Air and Earth sport the colors of Alchemy, green and gold, in this tarot. The planet represents ideas and the formulation of Earth, its sister element, showing the special relationship they have. In the above a white light is the hint of Fire, the Father from which the Son, Air, emerges; while below the clouds represent the Mother or Water.

Good morning, One & All, and Welcome! to your tour of the interior of the bowels of the Cosmos! Grin. Hi, All. I’m still officially “offline,” so I’m taking a more relaxed tone as this is meant only for those who are blog followers and the members of our Montpellier group. So, knowing that, I can hear you buckling your seat belts and putting on your atmosphere helmets, because the air MAY turn blue with vulgarity, scabrous wit and pointed irony, but then again, it may not; we shall have to wait and see where the wind of the Muse takes me. (Cough cough.) First, however, let’s get the obvious out of the way. Today’s spread is the usual Basics Modified, and the deck today is Erik C. Dunne’s *Tarot Apokalypsis* with a wonderful accompanying book by Kim Huggens. It is a magical deck & a wonderland of art. Today, Sulfur = 0 the Fool; Mercury = XIV Temperance, and Salt = the Ace of Swords. Before I start on the cards, I should say that the “Judgement” has FINALLY been made and I have my roughly sketched out plan for moving forward. So, I dare to hope that those constant nagging reminders to get my butt in gear will now cease. Okay, Onward and Upward. 0 the Fool is PERFECT for where I am today –
I have made the decision to go forward and it’s off! for a new adventure in taking my vision of tarot more into the public eye. I discussed the plan with my wife and she is in wholehearted agreement, even though Tarot is not part of her Path, with my taking on a more public face. My Mercury today, XIV Temperance, is along for the ride, and Boy! that doesn’t surprise me at all. S/he has been my long-suffering companion for over 60 years now, and s/he is so happy to have a voice in my affairs that s/he wants as little change as possible, but the Fool MUST take that step. While the angel’s change of sex here makes absolutely no difference, I rather enjoy the multiplicity of symbols present, giving Temperance much more visible “magical clout.” (Erik does paint wonderfully, doesn’t he?) And finally, for my Salt draw today, the Catalyst that is going to accomplish the fusion of my two currents, there is the Ace of Swords. I still sport wood when I channel this energy – it isn’t meant to be carnal, it is meant to be intellectual, and that is what turns me on, that pure “sexiness” of the power of knowledge. A bit abstract perhaps, but true nevertheless.  On top of that, there is just an awe-worthy amount of Energy
available here, even more so, I would say, than in the other Aces; each has its primal force, of course, but this one jumps out of the egg and literally bowls you over immediately in its rush to grow up and multiply. There are whole reams of material available about these & other cards, of course, but today I find that that the individuation of the cards is less compelling than the grand triptych view; the Fool, counseled by Temperance and fueled by the Ace of Swords (hir developed, powerful intelligence & sources s/he can consult,) has laid his rather sketchy course for the new adventure and is ready to set out (which I am.) He is counseled by his lifelong friend Temperance, who, as always, will be of invaluable aid in keeping him from his natural temperament of extremes; I have learned to profit from her presence in my later years, believe me. It is a good thing she is along, too! His source of Energy is like an old addiction; when one is FORCED to deal with it again, one must be extremely wary as it reassumes its serpentine and poisoned charm. I’m not going to go on and drag this out; that’s what I see today, and it is spot on. By the way, you may remember that yesterday morning I had the Prince of Spheres as the Salt in the Athanor. Well, that afternoon and a friend of mine, a younger man who is very IT savvy, came by, I asked for his help, and Presto-Change-o! He showed me how to fix it in less than 10 seconds. Thank you, Tarot! & Thank You, Prince of Spheres! Grin. I ask the Cosmos to grant us ALL safe travels in all of our travels today. Be Well, Be Blessed!

Good morning, Travelers on The Yellow Brick Road, This morning is the last for the sick computer. It should be fixed this afternoon. Once again card information is by A. E. Thierens in his book “The General Book of the Tarot.” Today, Sulfur = IV the Emperor, Mercury = XVII the Star, and Salt = the Prince of Spheres (Pentacles.) Be Well, Be Blessed!                    “There is much more mystery buried in every symbol than words spoken can tell. Superficial consideration might make astrologers wonder at this image, which assimilates worldly power with the sign Cancer instead of with Leo, to which they are accustomed. Still there remains this to be taken into account, that originally 'emperors' got their power from the people,--China, Rome--long before they began to claim God as their private protector against eventual aggression from outside. The people are ruled by the sign of Cancer, says the astrologer. And thus originally the chosen emperor accepted vox populi as vox Dei. This chosen dignitary was nothing of a tyrant, originally, nor did he have anything to do with rulership or warfare: he was simply the highest and most pure expression of the soul of the people or nation. In China sometimes a poor but extremely virtuous old man without any other antecedents was elected to be emperor. All later usurpations of power and succession were deviations from the old and pure institution. The present position of the president in a republic comes very near to that of the original emperor. The sign of the soul indeed is . . . Cancer. At the same time this is the sign of the breast (Papus) and of the womb, as Waite translates this passage about the card, which Papus says is connected with the Hebrew letter Daleth. In the older pictures we see the effort to let the man make a figure 4 or something like the symbol for Jupiter with his crossed legs. There may be some meaning in it, but this seems futile with regard to the general significance of the Emperor as the representative of the past, of memory, tradition in the people and in family life, dharma and the real motives of the soul in the background of life, which actually rule life. It relates to every inner power of the soul from which outer activity (karma) will arise. In different editions of the cards we find different sorts of sceptres in the hand of the Emperor. In some there appears also an eagle. We prefer the sceptre which Mr. Waite puts into his hands: the crux ansata, symbol of the might of inner life, which rules matter. The planet Jupiter has only to do with this card, in so far as it is exalted in the sign Cancer, which means, that virtually hopes and expectations as well as ideals for the future take their origin in the deep-rooted attachments of the soul, which themselves are the expression of dharma or cosmic memory. Still in a personal way the Emperor indicates the father of the querent, because it is from his father that his soul derives its elements. Compare in the horoscope the IVth house. Therefore this seemingly very feminine sign was symbolized by a male figure, while the seemingly male messenger was represented by a woman. The Empress indicates the spiritual parentage, the Emperor the physical one. The latter finds its counterpart (physical mother) in the Xth house, as is well known. Some authors say this card means 'realization.' That is correct so far as this word means an inner realizing of the significance of outer facts: the gathering of the harvest of experience, which will become the store of  memory.”                                                       “A great, radiant star of eight rays, surrounded by seven lesser stars
--also of eight rays. The female figure in the foreground is entirely naked. Her left knee is on the land and her right foot upon the water. She pours Water of Life from two great ewers, irrigating sea and land. Behind her is rising ground and on the right a shrub or tree, whereon a bird alights. The figure expresses eternal youth and beauty. The star is l'étoile flamboyante, which appears in Masonic symbolism, but has been confused therein. That which the figure communicates to the living scene is the substance of the heavens and the elements. It has been said truly that the mottoes of this card are "Waters of Life freely" and "Gifts of the Spirit." The summary of several tawdry explanations says that it is a card of hope. On other planes it has been certified as immortality and interior light. For the majority of prepared minds, the figure will appear as the type of Truth unveiled, glorious in undying beauty, pouring on the waters of the soul some part and measure of her priceless possession. But she is in reality the Great Mother in the Kabalistic Sephira Binah, which is supernal Understanding, who communicates to the Sephiroth that are below in the measure that they can receive her influx.”                                                                                    (The Crowley Prince is equivalent to the RSW Knight.) “The Fire on the Eighth and on the Fourth house, personified. The
traditional renderings are not bad but far from complete. The eighth house is that of our debts, money of other people and of the dead in particular. So the querent may profit by legacies or inheritance. Consequently the benefic influence on the weak point in our material conditions may be interpreted as: advantage, interest, etc. But the knight is always a personification, too, and this is not given in the traditional interpretation. We must see him as a person who is obliging, carrying out a will, coming to the aid of the querent, secretly or confidentially perhaps, at least not publicly, visiting him in his house, saving him from material and financial troubles. It may be a loan, inheritance or advance, but without any hard conditions connected with it, so it may be a present. On the other hand the houses mentioned give the tendency to retire from the outer world; this accounts for renderings such as 'inactivity, inertia,' etc. . . . We should say, it means the tendency to enjoy the good things of the heart(s) within one's own private or family circle, in repose, in some retreat, secretly. In weak cases there may be some danger of degeneration into idleness or indolence, etc. In connection with the fourth house, ruling family matters and the past, the home and the storehouse (of memory, e.g.) the card must have to do with pleasant memories, recollections, people we have known before; collections and collecting.”

Good morning. I expect to have the computer problem fixed tomorrow Today selections from A E. Thierens’ “The General Book of the Tarot” [1930] will accompany today’s reading. The deck is the *Bohemian Gothic Tarot* by Alexander Ukolov and Karen Mahoney. Be Well, Be Blessed!

Most old attributions of this card are completely wrong on the symbolism--as, for example, its identification with the Word, Divine Nature, the Triad, and so forth.
 * * * The veil or mask of life is perpetuated in change, transformation and passage from lower to higher, and this is more fitly represented in the rectified Tarot by one of the apocalyptic visions than by the crude notion of the reaping skeleton. Behind it lies the whole world of ascent in the spirit. The mysterious horseman moves slowly, bearing a black banner emblazoned with the Mystic Rose, which signifies life. Between two pillars on the verge of the horizon there shines the sun of immortality. The horseman carries no visible weapon, but king and child and maiden fall before him, while a prelate with clasped hands awaits his end. The existing occult explanations of the 13th card are, on the whole, better than usual, rebirth, creation, destination,
renewal, and the rest. * * * The Fire on the Eighth and on the Fourth house, personified. The traditional renderings are not bad but far from complete.
